Wild Edibles - (1 day)
Come and learn about local edible plant and tree species, how to prepare them properly and safely and try the various tastes these plants have to offer. This course will also give you the opportunity to prepare a small game animal for food.

Flint Knapping - (1 day)
During this course you will be learning the various techniques and skills our pre-historic ancestors required to detach flakes from sharp stone so arrowheads, knives and other tools could be produced. During this course you will be removing flakes from a core and fashioning these flakes into arrowheads. Although this course is very hands-on, a fair bit of science is covered to give you the ultimate understanding of how and why it works, so you will be able to take this skill home to perfect.

Awareness, Stalking and Movement - (1 day)
While on this course, we will astound you by the breath of information you could be gleaning from the outdoors by simply learning to interpret things differently. You will be learning how to move quietly through the woods, so forest-inhabitants will either not notice your presence or feel less threatened by it. Surprise yourself by learning the ability to move so close to wild animals you would nearly be able to touch them.

Atlatl, Throwing-stick and other hunting tools - (1 day)
If you would like to learn how to handle various projectile hunting tools and weapons, then we will most likely meet you on this course. We will be making atlatls, slings and carved throwing-sticks and learn how to use these to hunt with. You will be practicing on both still and moving targets during your time with us.

Long-term Shelter Building - (2 days)
This course is aimed at people who would like to learn how to make a long-term shelter capable of dealing with the damp Irish weather. We will be building a larger group-shelter that could be lived in for an extended period of time using nothing but debris and sticks from our site. We will discuss various options to heat the shelter and methods to build furniture in this pre-historic structure.

Game Preperation - (2 days)
Learn to use the entire animal for various projects, including food, tools, containers and clothes. The course will start by skinning and gutting an animal, and we will proceed to preserve the meat using a few different methods. After this we will process the rest of the carcass for implements and containers. The hide will be prepared for use in the hide tanning workshop.

Moccasin Making and Leather Crafting - (2 days)
Come join us for this unique course during which you will be fashioning your own leather shoes using a craft that literally transcended history. You will be using strong leather and imitation sinew to create personalized shoes over two days that can be used indoors or outdoors.

Hide Tanning - (3 days)
As a group we will be processing a deer skin so it will be transformed to soft leather suitable for making clothes, blankets and other items from. If properly processed, this leather can actually be machine washed and be waterproof.

Bow Making - (3 days)
What can be more exciting then making your own bow using the most basic tools and a simple piece of wood? Because of the high success-rate and the detailed learning experience this wood provides, we use specially imported Osage Orange. We will be building “flat-bows” which are more suitable for close-range hunting, and which are modeled after the various examples of pre-historic bows found in Ireland.

Wilderness Living One Day Taster - (1 day)
Did you ever find yourself wanting to try out what it would be like to learn primitive survival skills? Perhaps you felt you would love to give it a try, but felt intimidated by the outdoors, the commitment a longer course would mean or whether it’s for you or not. The One-day taster course might provide you with the answers while enjoying a wonderful day out in the woods.

Wilderness Living Basic Skills Weekend - (2 days)
This course deals with the various skills needed in order to ensure your survival. We will be focusing on the four basic needs (Shelter, Fire, Water and Food) and the means to provide these. During this course, you will have to option to stay in the various pre-historic structures provided on-site. Our aim is to ensure you are comfortable during the weekend, so we provide plenty of food, warm and cold liquids and comfortable outdoor accommodation.

Wilderness Living four-day Course - (4 days)
During this course we will start to explore beyond immediate survival. You will be learning more in-depth skills to make your survival experience more sustainable. Various different (More comfortable) shelters will be covered as well as many more ways to provide food and other natural resources. This course does require you to have a basic knowledge of the four basic needs, so you will have to have attended the weekend course or demonstrate your knowledge gained by self-study or through the attendance of another school.

Wilderness Living One - (6 days)
Our most popular course (Formerly known as “Primitive Living one”) which combines the above two courses for a well rounded set of skills that will enable you to survive most anything. You will also have far more opportunity to use the skills we teach during the course while being drawn more into the “wilderness way of life”. No pre-requisites are required and our aim is to ensure your comfort throughout the program. While we will encourage you to replace modern equipment with primitive counterparts, you will not be obliged to surrender any modern conveniences

Wilderness Living Two - (6 days)
When you attend this course you will notice the shift from survival skills to “Living on the earth” skills. After this course you should (With practice) be well capable to provide you and yours with a comfortable life in the woods without any modern equipment. The skills covered here are the skills used by generations to provide the community with all that is required for everyday life. This course does require you to have attended the previous week-long course offered or your ability to demonstrate your knowledge of basic survival skills as we will only cover advanced “living” skills

Wilderness Living 3: Authentic Primitive Life Experience - (6 days)
This course is a most unique course as it is (to our knowledge) the only course offered where you will be able to stay in our pre-historic village using provided pre-historic tools. This course will give you the opportunity to experience what it would have been like to live in a primitive society while learning an immense array of skills. You will be provided with all the stone tools, pottery and other items you would have needed had you lived in the pre-metal days. During this course you will be learning how to make these items yourself so you will walk away with your own primitive living equipment. You will need to have a proven knowledge of primitive living skills learned either at our school or elsewhere.

Wilderness Living 3: Survival Living - (6 days)
This course will place you in a survival setting where you have nothing but the clothes on your back and the knowledge in your head. You will be moving into the forest with your experienced instructor to set up a survival camp and provide all needs from scratch. This is a difficult course with a huge sense of accomplishment once completed. You will be dealing with hunger and thirst and you will experience the urgency to get the basic needs provided for while in a safe and controlled environment. This course is as close as you can come to an actual survival situation without actually being in a life-or-death situation. To attend this course, you will need to have a proven knowledge of primitive living skills learned either at our school or elsewhere.
