Learn the progress of dealing with various fibers as it was dealt with through the ages, starting with the extraction of materials from various plant and animal sources, we will learn how to twist cord by hand using different techniques. We will finish the day by learning how to use a drop-spindle, as it was used for many centuries by our ancestors.

Using natural willow and other materials such as spruce roots to create baskets of all shapes and sizes is a great way to spend the day. You will be exploring a variety of weaving techniques including coil basketry as used by various native cultures the world around.

Earhenware Pottery and Clay Art - (1 day)
Pottery has been around for as long as humanity can remember. Even in the earliest days, clay figurines and art were produced aside from earthenware pots and bowls. Our clayware will be fired in an open fire, where you will be able to see it start to glow and grow hotter and hotter. While firing, the chemical metamorphoses will be explained in full, allowing you to appreciate the uniqueness of this skill and art.

The art of Knapping Stone - (1 day)
Many more things can be produced using knapping techniques then arrowheads and tools alone. Watch various figurines come to life using these most ancient skills. Anything from love-hearts to letters and animal shapes can be produced from flint and other more exotic stone. During this course you will be learning both new and old techniques to shape your ideas.

Bark has been one of the more important materials since the early days to produce baskets and containers that could hold water and cook foods. This course teaches you various techniques to shape your basketry while creating carrying containers and water-proof canteens.

During your time with us, you will learn how to shape leather into the most usable and arty footwear possible. We will make moccasins using old-fashioned methods and then decorate them in various old and modern ways to suit your taste. These shoes can be worn in or out.
