Wilderness Living Two
When you attend this course you will notice the shift from survival skills to “Living on the earth” skills. After this course you should (With practice) be well capable to provide you and yours with a comfortable life in the woods without any modern equipment. The skills covered here are the skills used by generations to provide the community with all that is required for everyday life. This course does require you to have attended the previous week-long course offered or your ability to demonstrate your knowledge of basic survival skills as we will only cover advanced “living” skills and assume your knowledge regarding basic skills.
During this course, we will be delving into more types of shelter, more traps, survival bow-making, advanced hunting tools, more edible plants and meat-preperation, (primitive-) navigation, bark containers, flintknapping and a host of other important living skills.
The course is very hands-on, and for this reason, we provide a small rest on the afternoon of the middle day.
During the course, every participant will sleep in the shelters we will build during the course as well as the long-term primitive structures already present on-site.
We will serve you lunch in the form of bread, butter, ham, cheese, jams and other spreads. Fresh fruit will also be available. We will make sure there are plenty of hot and cold drinks available for you throughout the day.
In the evenings we will cook a variety of delicious meals on the fire.
The course is taught on our specialized course-site where there is plenty of shelter to work in if the weather is bad. The site is about 10 minutes walk away from the car-park, and there may be some muddy areas on the trail to the camp. This course does not require you to have a lot of equipment available, but below is a list:
Required:
• Sharp knife (2” to 5” blade preferably non-folding but if it’s a folding knife it has to be lockable!) If you do not have a knife, we would suggest you borrow one from us during the course rather then purchase one as we will explain different knife-types and their benefits during the course.
• Plate, drinking-mug and spreading-knife
• Warm clothing
• Appropriate shoes
• Rain gear
• Notebook and different color pens
• Leather gardening gloves
• Sleeping bag and mat
• Poncho or tarpaulin
• Spare space in your pack to take things home with you.
